I absolutely loved reading this and it was so beautifully written

& the nostalgia of the preparation of this splendid feast brought tears to my eyes

What a wonderful SS Pierce collage too and such a beautiful platter from Portugal as well

Thank you so much!

Wonderful story! I love your tradition of bringing your cultures together. We do the same - a Palestinian rice dish instead of stuffing. You’re absolutely right about the lack of religion & commercialism making this holiday so special. I’m so grateful for your stories🙏

LOL 😂 I grew up in RI and remember S.S. Pierce canned goods. What a throw back!

Last year we introduced an American style turkey to a bunch of Italians in Tuscany. It’s not easy to find un tacchino in Tuscany!

This year we tried an old tradition and joined 100 people at the Grove. Dinner and music. We were asked to bring an appetizer. I wrapped cubes of fresh cantaloupe with prosciutto, drizzled with a little EVO and sprinkled with pepper.

I can’t believe you grew up with SS Pierce canned goods! 🤣 Did you ever try the canned lasagna?! We miss you in Rome! ❤️

I used to see the brand as a kid/teenager at the Finast / First National National Stores. No, never had the canned lasagna. I did have Chef Boyardee Ravioli. My grandmother on my mother’s side was from Campania. She hand made her pasta. My mother was a good cook. My father even better. They used dry pasta from La Rosa Macaroni Company.

We miss Rome terribly! We hope to return in March/April. Do you know anyone with a small, beautiful apartment for rent? Or to swap with our small, beautiful house in San Francisco?
