A Merry Missive indeed! The 50's...the very best decade in my experience! You are certainly off to a very good start! So love those sequin leggins! You go girl! Missing you all and sending all the best to you in the New Year!
Grazie' Mille Sheila. Love your recollections of a magical time with family and friends. I write this as my mom passed on today. She and my dad met in Rome in 1961, where the first two of their six kids were (me being the first) born and baptized at St. Peter's. They returned to the states and moved us to Marin in 1963. In any case, their time in Rome infused our lives in so many ways. Buon Natale!
Oh Katie, I’m so sorry for the profound loss of your mother. May she rest in peace. How amazing that your parents met in Rome, and that you were baptized at St. Peter’s (wow!). Rome is a magical city, and does stay within us somehow. I’ll light a candle for her the next time I visit the Basilica. Buon Natale. Thinking of you. ❤️🎄
Heartwarming, beautiful writing as always,Sheila. Thank you for allowing your readers to share in your joy! Belated happy birthday wishes as you enter this great new decade.
Sheila- I sat down for what feels like the first time in days. In the coziest armchair in the house, the one near the window overlooking the garden and from which I see the Christmas tree. And I read your missive twice. You write like a dream and evoke such joy, such enthusiasm, such wonder. Thank you so much for sharing your voice- and happy belated birthday.
Thank you so much for your lovely, kind words. I’m honored you read this missive twice! I love that you took a moment to sit still and read, during the hustle and bustle of the holidays, and I’m delighted you found warmth in my words. Grazie ancora.
Happy New Year Sheila! I am finally taking the time to read backlogged emails and this one made me so happy! It brought tears to my eyes and made me reflect on all the wonderful friendships I have in my life. I am blessed to now also call you my friend. Wishing you a wonderful new decade and 2023. I hope our paths cross in Rome again in 2023. Cheers! Denise
